3 TIPS & TRICKS ON LILAC CLIPPING AND CARE
1. Lilacs bloom best in full sun with ample grassy space around the shrub.
2. Lilacs blossom on old wood, so when clipping, be sure to cut back only on new growth.
3. When placing in water, strip the stem of leaves that would be underneath water.

1. The name "lilac" comes from the Persian word for "bluish".
2. Lilacs are not native to North America
3. Early settlers brought lilacs with them to North America where they took to our climate
4. The oldest living lilacs in North America may be those at the Governor Wentworth estate in Portsmouth, N.H., believed to have been planted around 1750.
5. The common term "french lilacs" stems from the fact that a large variety of lilacs were developed in France, but they are not native to the country.
6. Lilacs bloom more heavily on alternating years, but you can help get more growth by pruning annually.
7. It is possible for lilac clippings to grow roots and be planted in the ground as shrubs!
