flower of the week : october 16

our flower of the week is a real beauty, purple dahlias!!

we have had dahlias before as our flower of the week, but these are just too rich with color & gorgeous not to show off!!

dahlias are native to mexico & also their national flower.

these perennials are one of 20,000 species that belong to the same family as sunflowers & daisies,

the Aster family.

dahlias begin to grow in the spring season, through the summer & into the early fall.

many people use this beautiful bloom as a garnish on cheese & fruit platters, or as a decoration on pastries & cakes, but you cannot eat it.

dahlias love the warm weather & grow in many different colors, such as yellow, red, pink, purple, white, & orange.

 product of the month : rosy rings candles & bittersweet wreaths

the fall season is finally here, and we could not be happier here at the shop!! it is our absolute favorite season, so we had to have two products of the month this month!!

this past month we have been putting out so many beautiful items that just scream fall,

but we are really loving these amazing spicy apple scented candles from rosy rings

& these stunning bittersweet wreaths!!

first off, the packaging of the rosy rings candles is gorgeous. perfect as a gift for anyone,
you don't even need to wrap it!!
we already have it prepackaged for your with twine & anise.
(anise smells incredible, like the combination of spices & licorice)

the actual candle is a cream color inside an amber glass container & smells absolutely amazing.
we have had one burning in the shop the last few days, it's so delicious!!

flower of the week : september 19

white kale

the flower of the week this week is extremely unique ... white kale!

these large, durable blooms have white, leafy petals & green, textured markings on the outside petals.

white kale looks beautiful in every arrangement, even bridal bouquets!

it grows in lavender, white, rose & a creamy yellow.

the fleurettes are ending the month of august with a 

fabulous flower of the week ... the orchid!

these beautiful, exotic flowers are perfect hostess gifts for this upcoming

labor day weekend party you've been invited to!

orchids symbolize love, strength, luxury & beauty,

and there are 25,000 different types of orchids!

a tip to remember when caring for your orchid:

do not place these exotic blooms in the direct sunlight,

orchids can actually get a sunburn!

dinner plate dahlia

this week's flower of the week is the vibrant dinner plate dahlia!!!

these gorgeous dahlias grow in a mix of colors & can bloom up to 18-24 inches wide!

dinner plate dahlias love the full sun, making them great for outside arrangements as well as for the inside of your home!

tuberose

this gorgeous perennial is our flower of the week, also used as an ingredient in many common perfumes we all know and love ... a tuberose!  even though it is called a tuberose, this multi-petalled flower has no botanical relation to roses. this beauty only blooms in white with tiny hints of pink!

dahlia

the fleurette's are starting off july with a beautiful california dahlia as the first flower of the month! dahlia's are bulbs that can be planted here in new england in the summers. they slightly vary in size and bloom in many colors such as white, red, pink, orange, yellow & purple!

there is nothing more "winter in new england" than the anticipation of a snow storm... or is there?  im pretty sure this divine wedding photographed by zev fisher at willowdale estate is as winter in new england as it gets.  cozy up with hot cocoa (maybe with a hint of mint) or a gorgeous glass of red wine and indulge in this december wedding.

our blushing bride carried white peonies with native ilex berries finished with seeded eucalyptus.  every detail for rachel's flowers were perfectly thought through.  from the boutonnieres with their accompanying bouquets of the perfect blends of reds, plums, burgundies, wine, cranberry and aubergine to the table centerpieces.  rachel and john's wedding was warm and romantic, a perfect color palette for the end of december.

guests dined amongst square and round table dressed with lush purple and red arrangements on crystal pedestal stands.  lush red peonies, amaryllis, red mokara orchids, red dutch tulips and red ranunculas were just magical paired together on rachel's beautiful stands.  

cut crystal pedestal cake stands filled with purple peruvian hydrangea, rich purple dutch tulips, royal purple sweet peas and aubergine ranunculas complimented rachel and john's reception.
